series – TLA partnered with TSLAC and the ALA
Intellectual Freedom Office to deliver three programs in
this series in 2006-07. DVDs from the videoconferences
and live workshop will be available from the Library and
Information Science Collection of the Texas State
Library and Archives Commission. These materials
naturally carry no fee or charge.

by Lauren Burnet - Library people are renowned for
their customer service skills, but some people are
still challenging, sometimes on both sides of the
desk. This advanced communications workshop will
cover the following objectives:

and understand the motivation and approach of your
interpersonal communication style so you can leverage
strengths and opportunities for improvement

Explore
your communication style under pressure and learn how to
manage it for positive impact

Increase
influence-ability by learning how to adapt your personal
communication style with others so that connection and
understanding is improved and your message is heard

Discover
your ‘emotional triggers’ and learn how to self regulate
your responses

and manage challenging internal and external
