TEA Releases Preliminary ESSA Public Survey Results

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released preliminary results of a recently completed online survey regarding the state’s implementation of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This preliminary report contains only the raw data output from the survey without any interpretation of the results. In addition, the documents contains only responses to the quantitative questions, the open-ended comment data will be analyzed and presented in a final report.

Do Districts Have to Hire Librarians?   

In Texas, school districts have discretionary authority over school library staffing and programs. Neither state nor federal statute requires that a school librarian be assigned to every campus.  However, state regulations do address library facilities, certified librarians, and state standards for school libraries.
