TLJ Advertising
The Texas Library Journal is the official membership publication of the Texas Library Association. The readership of more than 8,500 includes librarians and library staff, publishers and vendors, trustees, friends and supporters, and library users.

The Texas Library Journal is published quarterly. Year-long advertisers are eligible to contract for lower rates and premium placement in the 2000 TLA Conference Program. Deadline for submission in the Spring issue of the TLJ is January 15. This deadline has been extended to January 31.  Further TLJ information can be obtained on the  Texas Library Journal information page.

Final Invoices, Housing Forms, and Service Kits...
The final invoice for exhibit space, the 2000 TLA Conference Housing Information, and the 2000 TLA Exhibitor Service Kits are being mailed the first week in January by first-class mail. The TLA housing policy allows exhibitors a 30-day lead so please do not delay your housing request. Also, please review all deadlines in the Service Kit to avoid higher costs.

Don't Miss the Exciting TLA Weblink Offering
2000 TLA Exhibitors are offered an opportunity to link both their website and main representative's email on the exhibiting company's profile page on the TLA website. This offer is exclusive to 2000 TLA Exhibitors at the bargain rate of $99 for the entire calendar year 2000.

TLA is hosting a Chili Cook-off at ALA Midwinter
The Midwinter forecast this year includes a chili factor. Texans are accustomed to generally mild winters and to summers that get fiery hot. That's pretty much the same temperature range that will be available for sampling at the Chili Cook-off in San Antonio during the ALA Midwinter conference. The event, a fundraiser for both the American Library Association and Texas Library Association Spectrum Scholarship programs, takes place Sunday, January 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Public Library.

Tickets will be available at the door and $10 admission allows participants to sample four of the bowls o' red. Texas-style entertainment will help folks cool their heels while waiting for taste buds to recover between rounds of chili tasting. Then comes the vote! The judges at this cook-off are the folks who ante up and sample the goods. The grand prize is a pair of airline tickets- to go somewhere warm in the winter or save for a cool summer getaway.

If you're interested in entering your own concoction for the tasting and the judging, contact Patricia Smith by January 6 for instructions. This would be a good time to fine tune your recipe for the chili cook-off planned for Annual Conference when TLA gathers in Houston next April.

TLA Lists and Labels
Reach thousands of Texas library decision makers through the exclusive TLA list/label service. Promote your products and services to the entire TLA membership, or create a custom list to target your offer and message. Records are updated throughout the year. You might want to use this service to send a postcard to TLA members inviting them to come by your booth to review your products during the TLA 2000 conference. Some of the groups are: TLA Member, Divisions, Roundtables, Districts, Texas Bluebonnet Award Registrants, Annual Conference Registrants, Texas Public Libraries, Texas Academic Libraries, ect.

How to order: Contact Aileen Cavazos at TLA, 512/328-1519 or 800/580-2TLA. She will help you create the list/label set that best meets your needs.
