How much does it cost to list a position? This is a free service TLA offers for Texas libraries and librarians. How much does it cost to be a registered employer with the TLA Placement Center? Nothing. The Placement Center is free to any person who is registered for the TLA conference. Do I need to register in order to use the Placement Center? Yes. You must be registered as a conference attendee or an exhibitor. Employers must also post at least one position in order to use the onsite Placement Center. Once the position is posted, an email confirmation will be sent with a Job Key #. That number will be required to gain access to the Job Seeker database onsite. Can I use the service even if I won’t be attending the conference? Yes. A position may be posted to the Jobline/Placement Center without the employer actually attending conference. It must be indicated on the form that the employer will not be interviewing at conference. The Job Seeker database will only be available for review at the onsite Placement Center. How many positions can I list? Employers may list as few or as many positions as they like. Employers will need the Job Key # referenced on the confirmation in order to access the Job Seeker database as well as to change any of the registered positions. Do I have to complete a separate job listing for each position? Yes, a separate job listing form must be completed for each separate job. How do I edit or delete a position once it has been entered and submitted? Listings may be modified by using the Job key # for the specific position. What should I do if things don’t appear to be working? Try using Internet Explorer rather than Netscape. Check to be sure the computer is functioning properly and that the system is not having problems with its Internet connection. If an error message is received, please contact Elise Wright at elisew@txla.org; 512/328-1518 ext. 19. |
Can I post a job at conference? Yes, you can post a job onsite. Or enter a listing here prior to Saturday, March 31. What do I do if I lose my Job Key #? There will be volunteers at the registration counter in the Placement Center to provide assistance.
Employers can access the Job Seeker database at conference, as long as they have posted a job opening with the Placement Center.
By using the automated Placement Center messaging system if the job seeker has indicated that they will be available to interview. If they will not be interviewing at conference, it will be necessary to contact them directly. On the Job Seeker form, there is contact information, as well as information about where they are staying while at conference.
Contact the volunteers at conference to schedule an interview booth on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are also tables available in the Placement Center where an informal interview could take place.
