Lone Star Docs

Publishing Information

The Lone Star Docs newsletter was published usually twice a year (autumn and spring) by the Government Documents Round Table of the Texas Library Association.  The newsletter was a vehicle for documents librarians and advocates to share informational articles, editorial comments, news from the field, notices of accomplishments and good things documents libraries have done. It wasn't necessary for the articles to be long — just one or two paragraphs — and possible subjects could be:

New people hired

New services being offered

Remodeling or relocation

Special displays or publicity

Retrospective conversion or new cataloging services begun

News from conferences and meetings

The editors have included numerous prestigious documents librarians and advocates:

Theresa Storey Hefner-Babb

John C. Hepner

John C. Hepner and Mary Rausch

Bennett Claire Ponsford

Susan Norrisey

GODORT extends its deepest gratitude to the editors of Lone Star Docs. Their contributions in compiling and publishing the newsletter have been invaluable in the preservation of the unit's history and recording its accomplishments. Thank You!!!

2014 Update

In 2012 the GODORT Executive Committee voted to suspend publication of Lone Star Docs through Annual Conference 2013.

As an alternative to the newsletter, GODORT members were encouraged to post news items in the Announcements section of the MyTLA forum page. Regrettably, the MyTLA forum was discontinued in 2013 due to budgetary constraints.

Currently GODORT members are considering the options regarding resurrecting Lone Star Docs or identifying another method for communicating news.

More information will be posted here when it is available.
