Welcome to the Retired Librarians Round Table!


Beginnings: Introduced to TLA Council by convener Tina Hager in July 2012, ALIVE: The Retired Librarians Interest Group maintained membership of 100 or more for three years, and was redesignated the Retired Librarians Round Table (RLRT) by Council vote on 10 July 2015 during the TLA Annual Assembly in Austin, Texas.

TLA 2017 San Antonio Retirement Fun!!!

The Retired Librarians Round Table sponsored a program at annual conference called "Fill Your Bucket List: Create a Retirement Game Plan."  It was attend by over 90 people! Everyone was very engaged in lively discussion on 3 important topics: health, travel, and learning new skills.  You can find the discussion questions and a very extensive resource list here

The RLRT also sponsored a Tea Celebrating Library Pioneer Elizabeth Howard West at the Briscoe Western Art Museum. There were 31 tickets sold. Matt Dewaelsche from the San Antonio Public Library spoke about Ms. West and her contributions to librarianship in Texas. Janis Test, a librarian at Abilene Public Library and Ms. West’s great-niece, shared family stories. Following the program, docents from the Museum offered tours.
