Each of the ten (10) regional districts within TLA adopts its own bylaws, elects officers, and holds an annual fall meeting in order to conduct business, discuss library issues, and offer continuing education programs. Membership in a District is automatic and is based on residence. The District III website includes a history of TLA district formation interspersed in its own chronology.

Task Force on TLA Districts • Final Culminating Report  (pdf)

Although a "final" report was submitted in 2010, the TLA Council voted during Annual Assembly (July 2010) to defer formal acceptance of the report, encourage additional discussion at the District Fall Meetings, conduct another survey of the membership following the meetings, and revisit the issue at annual conference in April of 2011.

The "Final Culminating Report" was submitted to Council at annual conference in April. Included in the document are results of the 2011 survey of the membership and final recommendations of the task force.
