CMRT 2015 Conference Stipend Application

CMRT Conference Stipend Guidelines

 

The Cataloging and Metadata Round Table (CMRT) of the Texas Library Association will make available a stipend of $500 for a librarian, paraprofessional, or student who is involved in cataloging/metadata in the state of Texas to attend the TLA Conference.  The purpose of this stipend is to encourage membership and participation in TLA and CMRT.

Requirements

  1. Must be employed as a 1) professional librarian or 2) paraprofessional in a Texas Library, or enrolled as a 3) masters-level student in an ALA-accredited institution.
  2. Must be involved in library cataloging and/or metadata activities.
  3. Must be a member of the Cataloging and Metadata Round Table.
  4. Must agree to attend and be recognized at CMRT's annual business meeting at the TLA conference. Attendance at one CMRT conference session is also required.
  5. Must agree to submit a one-page report and evaluation on the TLA Conference telling whether it fulfilled your expectations and what, if anything, you learned that you will be able to put to use in your library. This report must be written and submitted to the CMRT Chair within 30 days of the conference.
  6. Must agree to serve on the following year's selection committee for the stipend award.

Timeline
Stipend Committee will use the following timeline as a guide for its work:

  • November 15—Application will be made available electronically on the CMRT group page of the TLA website.
  • January 15—Application deadline, including letters of recommendation.
  • February 15—Notification will be sent to the recipient, all other applicants, and the TLA office.
  • April – Stipend recipient will be introduced at the CMRT business meeting and conference sessions.
  • May—Stipend recipient will submit their Conference Report to the CMRT chair within 30 days of the TLA Conference.

Evaluation of Applications
The following guidelines shall be used when reviewing the applications:

  1. The applicant demonstrates interest in professional development.
  2. The applicant shows commitment to libraries and their missions.
  3. The applicant shows commitment to library cataloging/metadata.
  4. The applicant shows a need for the stipend in order to attend TLA Conference
