Chair Mary Christmas called the meeting to order at 4:05pm. Committee members and visitors introduced themselves.

The minutes of the 2001 Annual Assembly Meeting were reviewed and approved.

Old Business:

Dale Fleeger reviewed the TLA 2002 Pre-Conference Program, "Teaching on the Web" and Conference Program, "Videostreaming Content." Both events were held in the auditorium and instruction lab at the Dallas Public Library; the pre-conference was well attended while the conference program was not as well attended as hoped. He believed this was due to the fact the conference program followed the opening general session with Robert Caro. Those attending both sessions appreciated the content and came away with practical ideas to use.

Financial Statement - The committee reviewed the current financial statement. Dale reported the 2002 Pre-Conference sponsored with the Continuing Education Providers Interest Group generated $1900 of income which is in their account since committee funds do not roll over from year to year.

Ted Wanner gave a brief review of his TALL Texans project which is examining the TLA units that focus on continuing education, how they overlap, and how things might be streamlined. Ted is still in the process of talking with people about this, but hopes to have something prepared by the end of the year.

New Business:

TLA Survey - The committee reviewed the survey results relating to continuing education from the online survey conducted at the annual conference. That was completed by 11% of those attending. A sub-group of Belinda Boon, Ron Pollock and Catherine Wilt will examine the survey in depth to refine the survey questions for next year's conference survey, report to the program committee and other committees and round tables after the full results are provided by the survey vendor

2003 Conference - Steve Seale outlined plans for a pre-conference program on videoconference, "Oh, the Places You'll Go" which will focus on program content providers and "how to" tips. To provide access to the videoconferencing equipment needed, the program will take place at the Texas A&M Biomedical Center in Houston.

Ted Wanner proposed an idea for the conference program. "Tips for Training Adults" would be a 1 hour and 20 minute program for professionals and para-professionals staff on effective methods of training adult patrons and adult students in the library. Steve Seale and Lea Worcester proposed a 50 minute program that would be showcase a best practices collaborative of NETLS, NTLS and Education Service Center X on science education from NASA's Lunar & Planetary Institute. Lea also suggested a program by Eric Morgan of North Carolina State on PIE - personal information interfaces.

The committee approved the pre-conference on videoconferencing and conference program on collaboration. The program by Eric Morgan was referred to the conference program committee.

Executive Committee Report - Jeanne Martinez gave the report from the TLA Executive Committee reporting on the work of the 2003 Conference Programming Committee. She informed members of a meeting to be held during Assembly on the future of TIF.

Committee Chairman - Mary lead a discussion about having a committee chair "elect." Not having been a member of the committee prior to being appointed chair, Mary felt it would be better if new committee chairs could be appointed to serve in an "incoming" role for a year prior to being the actual chair.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:00pm
