  • Bryan, Ashley. Beautiful Blackbird. Atheneum Books for Young Readers. Ages 4-8. ISBN 0-689-84731-9. $16.95.In this colorful adaptation of an African folktale, Blackbird gives Ringdove a black ring around his neck prompting the other birds to want a touch of black too.
