Executive Committee Meeting
Hobby Middle School, San Antonio, TX, Friday, December 8, 2006

Members present: Elspeth Blakeman, Peggy Durack, DeeAnn Green, Mary Milligan, Catherine Nishimuta, Dede Rios, and Martha Rossi.

Members absent: Judy McMillan, Howard Marbach.

Dede Rios called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.

Approval of minutes:

October 20, 2006 minutes were approved with corrections. Catherine Nishimuta moved to accept the minutes and Peggy Durack seconded the motion.

November 4, 2006 minutes from the Annual Fall District 10 meeting were approved with corrections. Peggy Durack moved to accept the minutes and DeeAnn Green seconded the motion.

Treasurer’s Report:

Attendance and payment at Annual Fall District 10 meeting = 9 guests, 4 cash, 26 paid by check and 17 online payments. Total = $1175. Reports from Katherine Lee at TLA do not agree with Treasurer’s tally. $50 difference is payment by non-members for registration fees shown by TLA but not credited.

Total expenses  = $1822

TLA District 10 Fall Meeting:

Compiled evaluations of the annual meeting show rankings of ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’ for all sessions. Several persons contacted D. Rios to express positive comments.  Written comments indicated food and facilities were excellent. Suggestions for improvement included better directions for parking and sending out postcard reminders of the meeting.

District 10 Website:

TLA prefers that contact related to the District 10 website changes be communicated through the Publicity/Web committee member. D. Rios will ask J. McMillan to make the following changes to the website: 1) remove officer bios, 2) upload approved bylaws

Student Scholarships:

P Durack proposes scholarships for library students to attend the District 10 Annual Fall meeting. A committee comprised of P. Durack, D. Green, C. Nishimuta, D. Rios, and C. Fryberger was formed to make a proposal at the District 10 Caucus during the 2007 TLA annual conference.

Announcements:

P Durack will be retiring at the end of the 2006-2007 school year. E. Blakeman is back at the Great Northwest branch library.

Future meetings:

The next executive committee meeting is TBA.

A motion to adjourn was made by Peggy Durack and seconded by Catherine Nishimuta. The meeting was adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
