The Lockhart Neighborhood Electronic Training program (LOCK.NET), which is an outreach program of the Lockhart Public Library, has won the Library Instruction Round Table's "Library Instruction Project of the Year Award" for 2002. The program offers more than 20 hours of instruction each week at five different locations, and workshops include using specific software packages, looking for jobs, searching the Internet, using email and scanning. Classes are conducted in English and Spanish.
LOCK.NET began in 1999 with a grant from the Texas State Libraries and Archives Commission, and the program is in its third year of operation with the assistance of grants from additional sources.
More information on this program can be obtained at www.locknetclasses.net.
