2007 Outstanding Service in Library Instruction Award
|
The Library Instruction Round Table has selected Clara Fowler, Manager of Education Programs at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Research Medical Library to receive the Outstanding Service in Library Instruction Award. Many instruction programs and
librarians in Texas have benefited from Clara’s leadership and guidance.
Most recently, she helped bring the ACRL Immersion program came to Texas for the first time in July 2006.
This created a unique professional development opportunity for librarians in Texas to improve their teaching skills and
form a local learning community of instruction librarians in the State. She also contributed to the creation of the
award-winning Texas Information Literacy Tutorial (TILT) which continues to shape the information literacy skills of
thousands of students each year. Over the past several years she has presented at a wide variety of conferences and
symposia for organizations such as TLA, ACRL, Project LEAD, and the Coalition of Networked Information. LIRT is pleased to
recognize Clara’s important work and her efforts to enhance library instruction in the state of Texas!
