Committee History
The Public Relations Committee was founded in 1921, and was
originally called the Publicity Committee. Recent past chairs include
Julie Todaro, Jan Moltzan, Leila Parrish, Adriana Flores, Tish Mulkey, Sue Haas and Dee
Brock.
Committee Objectives
- Support legislative and other advocacy efforts
- Raise the stature and image of libraries and librarians
- Support the efforts of librarians in publicizing their
institutions
- Recruit new practitioners, especially minorities
- Publicize the role of libraries as defenders of intellectual
freedom
- Development of a PR media campaign
