The Texas Reference Sources revision process is a bit ahead of schedule, despite delays with a few sections. Editors of most sections still outstanding have been contacted and final submission by mid-April has been set. A couple of sections possibly may be reassigned. One section assigned recently is due no later than June 1 and the review process for it will be completed by September 1. Sections still under referral to section reviewers have deadlines of May 1 or June 1 for completion.

Preliminary indexing will begin on completed sections after annual conference. The general editor will be testing the indexing techniques, time factors, and parameters before delegating the process to assistants. The present plan is to index each section independently and then merge the indexes into a single file. Indexing originally was not scheduled to begin until June.

The general editor will be meeting with the TLA Publications Committee during the annual conference to update them on progress and to discuss logistics of the review process. The general editor also will be meeting with representatives of Texas A&M University libraries to discuss TAMU web hosting of the electronic version of Texas Reference Sources.

The general editor is still optimistic that publication can be accomplished on schedule in 2004.
