TEXAS REFERENCE SOURCES
Progress Report, July 2003
The Texas Reference Sources revision process is close to being on schedule despite delays with a few sections. Four sections currently under referral to section reviewers have completion deadlines in August and September. One section is due from a section editor and one from a section reviewer by the end of the week of Annual Assembly. Due to the dismissal of one section editor and the withdrawal of another, one section and half of another are just being compiled and will not be ready for review until September.
Preliminary indexing will begin on completed sections after Annual Assembly. The general editor will be testing the indexing techniques, time factors, and parameters before delegating the process to assistants. The present plan is to index each section independently and then merge the indexes into a single file.
The general editor will be meeting with the TLA Publications Committee during Annual Assembly to update them on progress and to begin preliminary publication review. The general editor also will be meeting with TLA staff and with a representative of Texas A&M University Libraries to discuss web hosting of the electronic version of Texas Reference Sources.
The general editor is still optimistic that publication can be accomplished on schedule in 2004.
