EXEGUTIVE COMMITTEE, REFERENCE ROUND TABLE, T.L.A. 
MINUTES OF MEETING, SEPTEMBER 20, 1976, 10:30 A.M. 

Chairman Kay McMurrey and Secretary-Treasurer, George Anne Monger, met 
in executive session with Will Howard, T.L.A. member, present.

Items of business discussed and action taken were as follows:

Program for annual meeting in El Paso
	No speaker will be invited.  Program will consist of reports of 
	Committee accomplishments.

Reference Round Table Committees, 1976-1977
	I.	Nominating Commitee
		Chairman and members to be appointed by Kay McMurrey.  Suggested 
		for membership: Jeanne Rogers and Kent Middleton.
	II.	By-laws Committee
		A.	To be contacted for membership: 
			Barbara Duke 
			Linda Sellers 
			Melinda Gutherie 
			Eleanor Harris
		B.	Committee charge:
			1.	Examine by-laws and recommend procedure for replacing 
				a vacancy in position of vice-chairman.
			2.	Consider make-up of executive committee, perhaps to in-
				clude past-chairman.
			3.	Assess R.R.T. bylaws and compare to new T.L.A. by-laws 
				to determine any areas of conflict.
			4.	Consider designating Nominating and Planning Committees 
				as "standing."
	III. 	Planning Committee
		A.	To consider direction R.R.T. should be taking.
		B.	Marjorie Wheeler will be asked to chair; Will Howard accepted 
			membership.
	IV.	Bibliographic Needs Assessment Committee
		A.	Chairman is Charles Gilreath, who will appoint his committee
			members.  Volunteer, Roger Steeb, will be suggested for this 
			committee.
		B.	Committee will investigate need for reference tools.
	V.	Publications Committee
		A.	Lois Bebout, chairman. will choose members.
		B.	Committee will issue Texas Reference Sources upon request and 
			will handle publication of titles which may be issued by R.R.T.
		C.	The request of T.L.A. President Paul Parham that R.R.T. consider 
			the preparation of a bibliography pertinent to the Value of Life 
			Conference to be sponsored by the Texas Conference of Churches 
			was vetoed by the executive committee.
	VI.	Bibliographic Instruction in Academic Libraries Committee
		A.	Chairman is Julie Duggan.
		B.	Kay McMurrey will check with Council on the status of this
			Committee since it is listed as a Special Committee in the 
			July 1, 1976 directory.
	VII. 	Periodicals Indexing Committee
		A.	Chairman is Linda Samuels and the Committee is made up of 
			those who indicated interest at the T.L.A. meeting in April, 1976.
		B.	This committee will be asked to generate a list of titles to 
			be indexed and to determine the thesaurus of terms to be used.
		C.	A Subcommittee to Survey Existing and Retrospective Projects 
			will both identify such projects and determine interest in 
			cooperation with R.R.T.
