Minutes
Reference Roundtable
Texas Library Association
April 6, 1979

The annual meeting of the Reference Roundtable of the Texas
Library Association was held on April 6, 1979 in San Antonio.
Chairperson Sharlee Jeser (Richland College) called the meeting
to order and introduced officers Norma Reger (West Texas State
University), vice-chairman and chairman-elect, and Aubrey George
(LaRetama Public--Corpus Christi), Secretary-Treasurer.

The membership waived the reading of the minutes and the treasurer's
report to allow more time for business and the program.

The Roundtable voted its official approval for the group's
affiliation with ALA's Reference and Adult Services Division's
Council of State and Regional Groups.

In the election of officers for 1979-80, the membership selected
John Hepner (Texas Woman's University) as chairman-elect, and
Linda Sellers (Southern Methodist University) as Secretary-Treasurer.

Ms. Jeser announced that copies of the revised Texas Reference
Sources were available at the TLA Conference Office.

Ms. Sellers announced that an ACRL Pre-Conference on Bibliographic
Instruction would be held on the SMU campus June 21-23 prior to the
ALA annual conference.

Ms. Jeser introduced Diane Horton, counselor at Richland College,
as the guest speaker. In her presentation on non-verbal communication,
Ms. Horton discussed personal space needs, stress, status, signals
and rituals as they relate to libraries and to life in general. She
used slides and audience participation to illustrate her presentation.

The meeting was adjourned.
