Ann Graves of the Bibliographic Committee reported on the Texas Periodicals
Indexing Project. After outlining the history of the project since 1979, she reported
that the Committee had recommended and the Executive Board had approved
tabling the project for two years. This action was taken in view of the fact that the
first issue of a commercial index to Texas and Oklahoma periodicals, the Red River
Index, is scheduled to be out within a few days. The Red River Index is to index 26
Texas periodicals comprehensively (Graves read the list of 26 periodicals to be
included in the index). The Bibliographic Committee has agreed to assist the editor
of the Red River Index by recommending titles to be included in the index,
determining terminology, and providing a list of Texas foundations or other
organizations which might be a source of funds needed to automate indexing.
Following Graves' report, Andrew Peters, editor of the Red River Index, answered
questions relating to the index.

Jan Blodgett announced that she is the Texas representative for ALA's LIRT
newsletter. Anyone having contributions for the newsletter should send them to her

Linda Sellin asked for committee volunteers to sign up following the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:21 p.m.

				Respectfully Submitted,
