Annual Conference, 1993 San Antonio
9:00-9:50, Wednesday March 10,1993


I.	The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Donald Buchwald.

II.	Members present: Delores Bentke,Donald Buchwald, Jan 
	Clausen, Richard Dickey, Lynne Hambric, Karen Hendricks, 
	John Hepner, Mary Ann Higdon, Joyce Hopkins, Bill Hord, 
	Bob Kelley, Terri Miller, Linda Newsome-Dillard, Melinda 
	Townsel.

III. 	Introduction of officers.

IV.	Minutes were read and approved,

V.	Treasurer's report.

	Balance on hand as of March 1,1993 was $3,434.27.

	Outstanding bills:

		1)	$100.50 to John Hepner for newsletter expenses
		2)	$200 to Walter Bell for clerical help on Texas Reference Sources

VI.    Committee Reports

	A.	Newsletter- John Hepner
		The Spring issue will be after conference.  Reports are due by March 26.

	B.	Nominating Committee-Jane Clausen

		Vice Chair/Chair Elect - Richard Dickey - University of 
		North Texas

		Secretary/Treasurer - Terri Miller - Lubbock City -
		County Library

		Nominating Committee - Jane Clausen, Joyce Hopkins, Bob
		Kelley

	C.	Texas Reference Sources - John Hepner for Walter Bell

		The Science and Technology section is the final are to be 
		input.  The entire text from the older editions had to be 
		reentered.  This caused many delays.  New editors and 
		reviewers had to be obtained to replace those who had 
		decided to no longer work on the project. There should 
		be q draft copy at Annual assembly in July 1993.

	D.	Lois Bebout Award  - Melinda Townsel

		Jean Tolbert - retired reference librarian from Baylor 
		University will be presented the $150 stipend and 
		placque at the business meeting, March 12, 1993.

	E.	Over 130 registered and attended the program on 
		Electronic Access to Serials.  The RRT was a co-sponsor 
		for this CULD pre-conference.

VII.  Old Business

	Outgoing members of the Executive Board need to give comments 
	on the "Status o By-Laws April 4, 1990" to Bill Hord or Don 
	Buchwald at Annual Assembly.

	Procedures need to be developed for the Nominating Committee.

VIII.New Business

	A.	Support for.the 1994 Pre-Conference on 
		Reference 2000 - Electronic Access of Serials
		Presenters: Margaret Irby Nichols, and Karen Weilhorski. 
		$500 was the amount voted on in support of this.
  		Mary Ann Higdon and Karen Hendrick moved and seconded 
		this.  Motion carried.

	B.	John Hepner received a letter from ALA concerning 
		the Council of States.  We have been aff iliated with them 
		since 1978. We will continue to do so.

	C.	The RRT program will be Thursday, March 11, 10:00-12:00.
		Reference and Information Services for Diverse 
		Populations is the title.  The speakers are 
		Ivonne R. Jimenez - El Paso Public Library 
		Barbara S. Crosby - Texas State Library
		Herman L. Totten - School of Library and Information
		Science University of North Texas

	D.	The 1994 Conference will be April 12-16 in Corpus 
		Christi

	E.	A gift not to exceed $15 will be presented to the 
		speakers of the RRT program.

	F.	It was noted that one of the standing committees listed 
		in the By-Laws was a Planning Committee.  This 
		needs to be appointed.

IX. Meeting adjourned at 9:45 am.
