Jeanne Pyle explained that, with the new bylaws now approved, the amendment to the statement in question could now be done at this business meeting rather than waiting another year. The following statement needed to be amended: "Any member of the Texas Library Association may select membership in Reference Round Table. Every personal member of the Reference Round Table has the right to vote and is eligible to hold office." The statement recommended to replace the underlined sentence above is as follows: "Officers must be current members of TLA and Reference Round Table and residents of the state of Texas." A motion was made and seconded to amend the RRT bylaws to reflect this new statement. On a voice vote of the membership, the majority voted in favor of the revision with one dissenting vote. The RRT Councilor will discuss with the TLA Executive Board this new statement. Jeanne Pyle announced the new officers of the Reference Round Table for 1998- 1999 as follows: Chair: Ron Glass Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect: Martha Tarleton Secretary/Treasurer: Jack Becker Councilor: Pat Switzer Nominations Committee: Diane Downing, Chair Karen Nichols Maria Ayala-Schueneman The new Reference Round Table brochures were made available to the attendees.
