TEXAS CHAPTER, A REFERENCE ROUND TABLE

Bylaws

ARTICLE I. NAME

Section 1. The name of this organization shall be The Texas Chapter, Reference Services Division of the American Library Association, a Reference Round Table of the Texas Library Association.

ARTICLE II. OBJECT

Section 1. The object of this Chapter and Round Table shall be to advance the informational, bibliographical, and research services of all types of libraries and at all levels within the State of Texas.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Any member of the Texas Library Association who is interested in library reference service shall be eligible to full membership.

ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS

Section 1. Officers. The officers of this organization shall be a Chairman, a Vice-chairman (and Chairman-elect), and a Secretary-treasurer. These officers shall be elected at each annual meeting and shall hold office for one year or until their successors are elected.
Section 2. Duties of Officers. These officers shall perform the duties usually attached to these offices.
Section 3. Vacancies. If the office of chairman becomes vacant, it is filled by the Vice-chairman. A vacancy in any other office will by filled by appointment of the Chairman. If the offices of both chairman and vice-chairman become vacant, the President of the Texas Library Association shall apoint a new Chairman.

ARTICLE V. COMMITTEES

Section 1. Authorization. Committees of the Chapter and Round Table shall be appointed by action of the organization.
Section 2. Appointment. Chairmen of the committees shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Chapter and Round Table. The committee Chairmen may, with approval of the Chapter Chairman, appoint members to their respective committees.

ARTICLE VI. MEETINGS

Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held during the annual conference of the Texas Library Association and shall be for the purpose of electing officers and for any other business that may arise.
Section 2. Special meetings may be called by the Chairman, and shall be called upon request of one-fifth of the members.
Section 3. One-third of the members shall constitute a quorum at any meeting.

ARTICLE VII. REPORTS

Section 1. The Secretary-treasurer shall send a report of the meetings to the Executive Secretary of the Reference Services Division at least two months before the annual conference of the American Library Association or as soon thereafter as possible. At the same time a copy of this report shall be sent to the Chairman of the Committee on Chapters of the American Library Association and to the Executive Secretary of the Texas Library Association.
Section 2. Copies of written papers presented at Chapter meetings shall be sent to the Executive Secretary of the Texas Library Association and may be sent to the Chairman of the Committee on Chapters of the American Library Association.

ARTICLE VIII. AMENDMENTS TO THE BYLAWS

Section 1. These Bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the Chapter by a two-thirds vote of those present.
