TEXAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION - REFERENCE ROUND TABLE
COMMITTEE ON TEXAS INFORMATION SOURCES
Report of meeting, April 4, 1973
The TLA-RRT Committee on Texas Information Sources met Wednesday,
April 4, 1973, at 5:00 p.m. in Room 305 of the Fort Worth Sheraton
Hotel, with Lois Bebout, Chairman, presiding. In attendance were
committee members: Bill Morris, Jr. (District I), Mrs. Jacqueline
Hambric (District III), Mrs. Virginia Dunham (District IV), Miss
Edyth Risley (District V), Mrs. Yvonne Greear (District VI), Mr.
John Lolley (District VII), Mrs. Linda Samuels (District VIII),
Mrs Gloria Lyerla (District IX). Others present were: Mrs. Rita
Paddock, Mrs. Sara Sullivan, Mrs. Vivian F. Jeffries, and Miss
Mary C. Paris.
The Committee discussed how best to achieve its three charges:
1) to promote THE TEXAS LIST and TEXAS '70; 2) to acquaint Texas
librarians with sources of information about Texas by carrying
some type of exhibit or program to the ten district meetings; and
3) to consider the feasibility of publishing a "Texas Winchell."
It was decided that the committee would cooperatively develop a
list of basic Texas information sources (of course, including THE
TEXAS LIST and TEXAS '70) to be presented at the district meetings
in whatever manner fitted in best with the format of the meetings.
Each committee member is responsible for making arrangements with
his district's program chairman. It was agreed that even out-of-
print materials would be displayed in an effort to make the librarians
who do not own copies aware of their existence in nearby libraries
and, perhaps, to encourage the reprinting of some important titles.
The final basic list should be complete by August 1.
Little was discussed about compiling a "Texas Winchell," other than
to decide that Lois Bebout would act as general editor and that
subject responsibilites would be assigned. The publication means
is to be determined by the length of the eventual compilation.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:00 p.m.
Lois Bebout, Chairman
