Dear
Enclosed is your "ballot." Please look over the enclosed list
of suggestions for inclusion in a basic list of reference books about
Texas and "vote" for your top fifty. Please feel free to consult with
anyone and to make any suggestions for additions or substitutions you
wish.
Return your list to me, please, by August 15th if at all possible.
Some of the districts meet in September. I'd like to get the
final list mailed to you by September 1st so that you can let me
know what assistance you will need in locating copies of the books,
etc.
We still need volunteers to serve as subject editors in the following
subject areas:
1) Societies, Encyclopedias, Language dictionaries, Linguistics
and philology, Periodicals, Newspapers, Dissertations
2) Sociology, Anthropology and ethnology
3) Statistics, Economics
4) Pure and applied sciences (excluding earth sciences and biological
sciences)
If you are not interested or have already volunteered for a section,
will you please suggest people who might be willing to serve?
Thank you again for your interest and cooperation.
Sincerely
(Mrs. ) Lois Bebout

SOURCES OF INFORMATION ABOUT TEXAS
The following list is a cumulation of suggestions for inclusion on
a basic list of sources (reference books) about Texas; the books
are to be displayed and/or presented at each district meeting of
the Texas Library Association if the district wants the presentation
or exhibit.
Please mark those titles which you feel should be included on such
a basic list. If you wish to recommend some title either as a
substitution or as an addition, please do so.
I would like to see the list kept to a maximum of fifty titles;
however, remember that each district can add anything it wishes to
the basic list at the time of presentation.,
