HISTORY OF
THE REFERENCE ROUND
TABLE
As a project for the TLA Centennial, these files were created
to document the history of the Reference Round Table. Through the generous cooperation of the
Texas State Library and Archives Commission (home of the TLA Archives), the
American Library Association, and the Texas Library Association, copies of
original documents from the TLA Archives and the ALA Archives were acquired.
John C. Hepner (Texas Woman's University) coordinated the acquisition of
materials, the writing of narratives, and the compilation of the web pages for
this project. The Reference Round Table wishes to thank William R. Gordon,
Executive Director of the American Library Association, and Patricia H. Smith,
Executive Director of the Texas Library Association, for permissions to post
selected documents from the respective archives collections. John Hepner updated these files in 2007 to add more recent developments. Further periodic updates will continue to be provided to carry on the narrative.
