RRT Cosponsors Preconference at TLA ’98

The RRT in cooperation with the Serials RT, Acquisition & Collection Development RT, and Interlibrary Loan RT is preparing an exciting preconference to be presented as a part of TLA ’98. RRT is taking the lead in the development of this event, “Service Models for the Emerging Digital Library,” which will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 1998 in San Antonio.

What implications does the evolving full-text environment have for traditional library services such as reference, acquisitions & collection development, serials, and ILL? How will the roles of staff in these service areas change in the digital library? How are the ways we communicate these services to our patrons changing in the digital environment? How do we plan for and manage the coming changes?

Join our panel of noted speakers as they take a look at the future of library services and make some forecasts for libraries and library professionals in the digital age. Speakers include: David Farrell, Associate University Archivist, University of California at Berkeley; Chris Ferguson, Assistant Dean for Redesign of Subject Libraries, University of Southern California; T. J Lusher, Assistant Director for Automated Library Systems, Northern Illinois University; and Karen Nesome, Associate Librarian,
University of Arizona.

This is a preconference you definitely won’t want to miss!

Ron Glass, Vice Chair/Chair Elect
