A Call For Editors:

Texas Reference Sources,

Fifth (Year 2000) Edition

The Reference Round Table of the Texas Library Association is seeking volunteers for the task of preparing a new edition of Texas Reference Sources: A Selective Guide. Both a General Editor and a number of Subject Editors will be needed. The goal is to publish a new edition by the year 2000. This will be the fifth edition of this important and useful work. A brief history of the project since its inception is printed elsewhere in this issue.

If you think you might be interested in participating in this project, please send preliminary information including name, address, employer, phone number, and e-mail address to:

Lynn Haggard
Chair, RRT Planning Committee
Box 218 McMurry University
Abilene, TX  79697
E-mail: lynnh@alcon.alc.org

Please include a brief statement indicating your interest, and listing any subject area or areas in which you would be particularly interested in working. If you would like to be considered for the position of General Editor, please indicate that as well. You may also include a copy of your vitae, or if you prefer, wait for further announcements, and submit your vitae at a later date.

One of the issues that must be decided is whether to include online resources in the fifth edition. Perhaps the 5th edition will be published in both online and print versions, with the online version becoming a springboard for an ongoing and continuously updated set of Texas-related online reference resources.

We hope you will seriously consider joining this genuinely important project. It is an opportunity for scholarly publication that will enhance any vitae, and more importantly, a chance to make a significant contribution in the fields of bibliography and librarianship.
