JOIN US FOR OUR 2007 ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROGRAM

The RRT 2007 conference program "Texas-sized Bytes! Z39.50 and Metasearch/Interoperability Standards" will be presented from 2-3:50 p.m., Thursday, April 12. Check the conference onsite mini-program for the location. This topic has been marketed toward technical services librarians in the past, but we feel it is very important for reference librarians to grasp the realities of these interoperability projects and what implications they are going to have in the immediate future. William "Bill" Moen (Associate Professor, School of Library and Information Sciences, University of North Texas), Cathy N. Hartman (Assistant Dean for Digital and Information Technologies, University of North Texas), and Kevin Marsh (Network Services Librarian, Texas State Library and Archives Commission) will be talking about their contributions to our Texas library discovery networks (the Library of Texas and the Texas Heritage Digitization Initiative) and what impact these kinds of projects are having on the profession in general. In addition, Bill will be discussing specifically how he sees the emphasis of reference work evolving.
