One of the programs at TLA this year was titled "Fun in the Work Place." Maureen Pastine, last year's RRT program speaker, presented a wacky set of Internet and library-related humor pieces. Her example has inspired your otherwise sane editor to present this list. My personal favorite: the FIGLET Service at http://www.inf.utfsm.cl/cgi-bin/fig let. 103 zany ASCII display fonts to choose from. Type your message in the box, pick a font, and cut/paste the results into an email message, or word processor for instant greeting cards, banners, etc. The headline for this column shows an example. For the practical jokers among us, try Zippy meets Meta-HTML at http://www.metahtml.com/apps/zippy/welcome.mhtml. Zippy loves to mess with your web pages, and it's guaranteed to freak out the powers that be. Did you know that rearranging the letters of "Ronald Wilson Reagan" gives "A long-insane warlord?" What anagrams can be constructed out of YOUR name? The Anagram Genius Server at http://www.genius2000.com/anagram.html can help. Ever gotten one of those digital greeting cards? Or wondered how to send one? Try Internet Card Central, a meta-site for free virtual postcard and greeting card services on the Web at http://www.cardcentral.net. Webcams are live cameras connected to the Web, usually timed to take a new snapshot every so often (click Reload to get the latest picture). Worldwide Web-cam Sites provides a great selection to choose from at http://www.mediadesignmds.com/webcam.htm. Finally, take a trip through The Comic Strip, a meta-site linking to many favorites, including Peanuts, Dilbert, Marmaduke, and more at http://www.unitedmedia.com/comics/. Now don't let anyone tell you the Internet isn't fun! Will Stuivenga, Editor
