The rooster is tired of chicken feed and decides to look in his great grandmother's cookbook to find some variation in diet. His great grandmother is the Little Red Hen. He again asks many animals if they want to help, and they have not changed. The answer is still, "No," but once inside the kitchen Rooster finds three eager animals to help. The helpers keep a good humor as the first strawberry shortcake lands on the floor, and they agree that that one was just for practice. The sidebars on cooking tips and information make the book attractive. A recipe for strawberry shortcake is included. Fun for all.
