Texas Regional Group of Catalogers and Classifiers: Cataloging StoriesAt the 1998 TLA Annual Conference, Janet Swan Hill gave a talk on "justifying your existence" . One of the tools Ms Hill discussed was the use of stories and anecdotes to get your point across. In passing, she suggested that a Web site or some other means of sharing these stories should exist so that we can help each other through the process. In a discussion after the program, Ms Hill agreed to allow us to use her stories to start off our new "Story Page". We hope this will become a resource for catalogers and classifiers everywhere so please submit your stories to us and we'll be happy to include them. To start you off, we've included (with her permission) all of Ms Hill's remarks regarding telling stories. Milton G. Clasen, Catalogue Librarian at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, compares technical services librarians to the construction workers who lay the foundation for all those beautiful buildings you pass by on the way to work. In another analogy, Mr. Clasen likens library automation to upgrade airline service in the need for additional staff. You might call this last one a "case" study of what happened at the
