TLA Welcomes New Director of Communications

Austin, TX – The Texas Library Association (TLA) is pleased to announce that Wendy Woodland has been named Director of Communications effective October 17, 2016.

“Wendy's strong background in non-profit communication strategy and advocacy will be a great asset to TLA and our work to support our members and Texas libraries," said Patricia Smith, TLA Executive Director. “She is a great addition to our team."

Woodland is a non-profit professional with extensive experience in strategic communications, advocacy, and public relations. She joins TLA from the Texas Restaurant Association where she led the association's communications, public relations, and marketing initiatives for almost 12 years. Her non-profit experience also includes the South Carolina-based National Golf Course Owners Association and the Washington, DC-based Information Industry Association. Woodland also worked on Texas Senator Judith Zaffirini's staff as communications aide.

“I am thrilled with this opportunity to leverage my communications and advocacy experience with an organization that seeks to support the delivery of the best possible library and educational services to Texans," Woodland stated. “I look forward to working with the TLA team and members."
