INDEXES
General, biographical, organization, and Sunday feature section card indexes from the files of the Dallas morning news. Boxes 1-22, G-1 to G-22, general cards for subjects in alphabetical order; boxes 23-28, B-1 to B-6, biographical cards in alphabetical order; boxes 29-30, O-1 to O-1A, organization cards in alphabetical order; box 31, O-2, Sunday feature section. Appendices at the end of each reel provide rephotographed images of missing cards or cards of questionable legibility. Within subject and other units, arrangement is normally by year in reverse chronological order. Headings on subject cards are not consistent over time. Arrangement of entries on a card or a series of cards is haphazard. Each alphabetic unit of biographical cards is in two parts: entries for specific noteworthy people of national importance or notoriety are followed by cards for individuals less well known or local in rough alphabetical order.
Indexes all available issues of this locally-focused, Black-oriented weekly newspaper from May 29, 1931, through Jul. 4, 1941.
Complete full-text content of Amarillo globe-news, since 2002; Austin American-statesman, since 1989; Beaumont enterprise, since 2001; Dallas morning news, since 1984; El Paso times, since 1999; Fort Worth star-telegram, since 1991; Houston chronicle, since 1985; San Antonio express-news, since 1990. Advertisements excluded.
