    Includes portraits as currently displayed in the State Capitol of the men and women who served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1881 to 1992. Earlier portraits were lost in the fire that destroyed the Capitol in 1881. A roster of names and home counties for each House session since the first legislature in 1846 to the 72nd legislature in 1991, as well as the portraits of the representatives who won seats in the 72nd special legislative elections of 1992. The fore. includes information about the first woman and the first African-American members serving in the House. Also includes a pictorial history of the state Capitol since 1836. Drawings depict the early Capitols of 1836 and 1846. Photographs depict the history of the Capitol from the fire of 1881 to the restoration in 1992.

II contains revenue and expenditure data for every fund maintained by the State Comptroller’s Office Treasury Operations.

    Pictorial account of the Capitol as a seat of Texas state government and a busy workplace for state officials and their staff. Traces the history of the Capitol from its start in 1836 in a rented building at Washington-on-the-Brazos to the present Capitol in Austin, which was dedicated in 1888 and enlarged and renovated between 1990 and 1995. Photographs of some of the distinguished visitors to the Capitol include U.S. President Calvin Coolidge, Charles Lindbergh, Queen Elizabeth II, and Bob Hope.

    The most comprehensive and current site on bills in the Texas legislature. During a legislative session, new/updated bills are posted within one hour of being entered into the legislator’s computer. Locate bills of the Texas legislature from the 74th legislature (1995) to the present searching by bill number, author/sponsor, subject, or key word. Gives history of how bills become law and provides access to statutes and the Texas constitution. Under a section called "Find your Incumbent", search for U.S. and state representatives and senators. Information on the Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the House includes biographical data, powers and duties, and photographs. Links to the Texas Legislative Council and the Texas Legislative Reference Library, which has been a depository for all bill files since 1973.

    Highlights the Speaker of the House and gives information on members of the House of Representatives. A welcome is given by the Speaker of the House. Full page of biographical data on the Speaker, the text of his opening day address to the House (audio format also available), a description of the powers and duties of the Speaker, and a link to the Speaker’s district home page, which also includes a link to the legislation authored by him. For the other members of the House, the biographical data includes date of birth, occupation, and education. Lists all 150 members under district information, giving party affiliation and local telephone numbers and office addresses. Alphabetical list of members with their committee assignments.     An impressive website designed for adults and children alike and available in either English or Spanish. The chief officer of the Senate, the Lieutenant Governor, has several pages devoted to him: personal biographical data and political accomplishments, text of speeches, and duties and powers. Texas senators listed by district with links to pages devoted to each senator’s personal and political life, as well as news releases about the senator. Also lists senators by seniority. Duties and offices of the Secretary of State are given. Links to the senate agenda and the text of the Senate Journal. Provides a section on standing committees and their members. Childrens’ topics include the Texas Capitol, Texas trivia and facts, trading cards of the 31 senators with biographical and political information on each one, and a glossary of terms.
