According to the website this new department, established September 1, 2004, “brings together the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the Texas Department of Health, the mental health services of the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and the Texas Health Care Information Council.” Includes information on health laws and regulations, licensure, careers, statistics, publications and reports, diseases, and funding. Kids Corner provides health activities for children and lesson plans for teachers.

    Contains citations to biographical information related to early Texas physicians from the Texas State Journal of Medicine from 1905 to 1966. Does not include full-text biographical material. Most citations are single-line death notices instead of detailed obituaries. Citations from other sources, such as the Texas Courier-Record of Medicine, Texas newspapers and city directories, and various Texas histories, date from the 1870s to 1966. Each citation includes an OCLC number that interlibrary loan departments can use to identify libraries owning the original source. Most records also include year of birth or death. Can be searched by physicians’ last names or by last names and first initials, and occasionally by the city in which they practiced. Browsing is also possible with an alphabetical index of last names.
