Rally for Texas Libraries
Ready to RALLY? It's time once again to beat the drums and carry the message to legislators that our libraries are essential to the health and vitality of Texas.
On Wednesday, April 13 at 4 pm, annual conference will shut down entirely so the library community can return to the south steps of the Capitol for an inspiring Rally for Texas Libraries. The Drum Café performance troupe will start the call to rally and punctuate the event.
WEAR RED: Be sure to have red in your conference wardrobe and wear it that day. A limited number of red T-shirts with the rally logo will be available in the TLA Store, which opens at 10 am on Tuesday and at 8 am on Wednesday.
BE PROMPT: 100 chairs and drums will be available for the first 100 to arrive at the rally site. Hand fans with the rally logo are being printed for distribution, and there will be a limited number of red signs to hold high. Buses will run from the convention center to the Capitol for those who need transportation.
The rally will be a fun and energizing event; please be there to add your voice to that of your colleagues as we let legislators know that librarians will not be silent!
Tours of the newly renovated de Zavala State Library building will be available from 5 pm – 7 pm immediately after the rally.
