Sharon M. Lawler Named 2016-2019 TBA Coordinator! PRESS RELEASE
A message from 2013-2016 coordinator, Mary Jo Humphreys:
It is my pleasure to welcome Sharon Lawler as the next Coordinator of the Texas Bluebonnet Award. I am looking forward to working with her during her first intern year, 2015-2016.
Sharon and I had the pleasure of working together in other leadership roles for TLA. Sharon served as Chair-Elect and then Chair of CRT, while I simultaneously served as Chair-Elect and then Chair of TASL in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 respectively. We learned to plan and work together bringing great programs to the TLA Conference and supporting our division and round table. We had fun and our collaboration lead to a mutual respect of our commitment to librarians in Texas.
When I became the Intern Coordinator to Martha Edmundson, I saw that Sharon Lawler was on the Selection Committee. Immediately we reunited our friendship and built an even stronger bond around the discussion and selection of books. Sharon’s expert knowledge of children’s literature and her extraordinary communication skills will be a great asset for Bluebonnet. She is already respected by the publishers, and the committee members have embraced Sharon in this new role. We are very proud of her selection by the TLA Leadership Team for Youth Programs.
Sharon will lead the Bluebonnet Program with commitment, expertise, and wisdom. It will be my honor and privilege to spend this last year working side by side with her.
