Texas Libraries Step Up
with a
Texas Two Step for Disaster Relief

contribute money  •  contribute books

The Texas library community is rallying to rebuild hope and the future for victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. TLA applauds the efforts of local librarians in quickly responding to the incredible challenges in many communities.

Step One

The Texas Library Association's Disaster Relief Fund has been expanded to collect donations for libraries in the Gulf Coast area as well as for libraries providing support for the evacuees. One hundred percent of your donated money will be sent to the state library agency or library association in the state of your choice.

If you prefer to donate by check rather than online, please call TLA for assistance: 1-800-580-2852.

Contributions for Louisiana can also be sent directly to: Louisiana Library Association Disaster Relief Fund, LLA, 421 South 4th St, Eunice, LA  70535

Funds for Mississippi can be directed to a fund created by Friends of Mississippi Libraries, working with the Library Commission and the Mississippi Library Association:

Rebuild Mississippi Libraries Fund

210 E. Capitol Street
Jackson, MS 39201

Step Two

Given the overwhelming response – we have already received approximately 60,000 pounds of books – TLA is closing its Katrina book drive effort. TLA thanks the national community of book lovers for their support of libraries.
