In 1997, The TLA Executive Board appointed an ad hoc Centennial Celebration Committee, which was charged with planning and implementing activities related to the 100th anniversary celebration of the Texas Library Association in the year 2002.
The MISSION of the Committee is to plan and implement activities related to the Centennial Celebration of the Texas Library Association in the year 2002.
The Objectives of the Committee are:
The strategies are:
CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CIRCLE
The Committee has held several meetings since its first session at the 1997 Annual Assembly. We soon came to see that communicating with some 50 TLA units presented a problem. Our concern resulted in obtaining permission from the Executive Board to create the Centennial Celebration Circle, consisting of a delegate and alternate for each unit.
The Centennial Celebration Circle functions to support the ad hoc Centennial Celebration Committee in planning and activating centennial projects. The Committee will suggest projects which units may wish to undertake. Circle members will, in turn, present project ideas to their units, coordinate these activities, and report their progress to the assigned Committee liaison. From time to time we also will ask for Circle input on such matters as planning the events that will take place at the 2002 Conference. We hope you will work with us in making the Centennial Celebration a huge success. The ad hoc Committee will meet with the Circle at each Annual Conference and Annual Assembly up through the year 2002.
